  • Day 2 : Luang Prabang – Alms Giving Ceremony – City tour – Pak Ou cave

Start your day early with a chance to witness the serene Tak Bat ceremony, a centuries-old Buddhist tradition. As the sun rises, lines of saffron-robed monks walk barefoot through the streets of Luang Prabang, collecting alms from local residents — a spiritual act of "making merit" that reflects the deep-rooted spiritual culture of Laos.

After breakfast, visit the former Royal Palace, now the National Museum, showcasing royal artifacts, traditional costumes, and early 20th-century relics. Then explore Luang Prabang’s most revered temples: Wat Xieng Thong, a stunning 16th-century monastery; Wat Mai, known for its intricate bas-reliefs; Wat Visoun, with its unique stupa; and Wat That Luang, the city's sacred burial site for high-ranking monks.

After lunch, transfer to the pier for a private Mekong River cruise to the sacred Pak Ou Caves, home to thousands of Buddha statues in varying shapes and sizes. Along the way, observe local river life and fishing villages that depend on the Mekong for transport and trade.

On the return journey, stop at Ban Xang Hai, a village known for traditional Lao whisky-making and hand-weaving.

End the day with a climb up Phousi Hill to take in panoramic views of Luang Prabang at sunset – a perfect way to close a culturally rich day.

  • Day 3 : Luang Prabang – Trekking to Long Lao – Kuang Si waterfall

Begin your day with a scenic drive from Luang Prabang to a peaceful valley southeast of the city, arriving at Long Lao Village. This charming village is home to both Khamu and Hmong communities. Before setting off on the trek, take time to explore the local culture and visit our Fair Trek project - a beautifully crafted clay bungalow that supports community-based tourism and offers authentic village experiences.

From the village, we begin our guided trek into the stunning Lao countryside. The trail winds through rice fields, orchards, and vegetable gardens before entering forested hills and lush jungle landscapes. The terrain is mostly flat with a moderate level of difficulty, including a short rocky ascent and descent (approx. 20 minutes). Please note, the trail can be slippery when wet.

By early afternoon, we reach the highlight of the day - the breathtaking Kuang Si Waterfall. Follow a forest trail to the base of the falls, where crystal-clear pools invite you to swim, relax, and enjoy the natural beauty.

While at Kuang Si, don’t miss the chance to visit the Kuang Si Bear Rescue Sanctuary. Learn about the conservation of endangered Asian sun and moon bears and the inspiring work of the “Free the Bears” program. You’re welcome to support the sanctuary by donating or purchasing an official “Free the Bears” T-shirt.

After a rewarding day, we return to Luang Prabang in the late afternoon.
